Tasha Saati is a self-taught artist whose work is rooted in imagination and symbolism, a place where we forget the reality of things and are taken to scenes as though lived in our dreams, often poetic, mystical and nostalgic. Tasha’s work is able to capture a place where we are safe for a moment and the mystery present in the paintings summons our curiosity to explore our imagination and escape the mundane. Her passion for poetry also finds a place in her paintings, through the words woven into the image.
Native of Siberian region in Russia, she did a life-long journey through Eastern Europe, Middle East and finally settled in Canada, Montreal. Tasha’s way to the arts was long and convoluted. She earned her Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montreal’s ETS, spending years deciding between engineering or her artistic career, before finally dedicating to the arts.
Basing herself on traditional oil painting practices, she pays special attention to the quality of wooden supports preparation and to the application of painting materials, aimed at the best preservation of the oil paintings.
Specializing in oil painting, she seeks to explore and improve her technique with other mediums such as acrylic, ink and water colors.
